The Genie Inside of You…

Twelve years ago I wasn’t connected with my genie. I was too busy working hard for someone else and worrying about money. I was looking for a way to do something big, something meaningful, something I would love to do but every time I ventured out of my comfort zone, something always seemed to get in my way.
Get Out of the Never-Ending Vicious Cycle
In June of 1999, the next thing was loosing my job. My “grown up” reaction to being let go was to cry, follow my heart, and commit to my dream. It seemed crazy and unrealistic when logic crept in to my emotional state of being. I was in debt and I had no money to my name other than my two week severance check. I didn’t know how I was going to pay the bills that month. I called a friend, who was a business coach, and I told him what happened; I needed to create income in less than 30 days otherwise I would be homeless. After a serious discussion, I chose to invest my last paycheck in myself and hired him to help me launch my business.
What I learned is the obstacles we face wake us up and jar us out of our “sleep”. These challenges allow us to get a glimpse of who and what we really are and give us the motivation to step out and claim success as our birthright.
Change Your Mind Set and Take Action
The economy in 1999 was similar to what it is now. Credit was hard to come by and everywhere I went, doors were closed in my face. I chose to open a window and fly. By changing my mindset I was able to create money for my mortgage and all my bills that month. Three months later I was on my way to earning an executive income in an industry that told me not to quit my day job for seven years. Economies like this allow us to take control of our life and dream and really make them happen not someday but right now. Having a great coach who believed in me, held me accountable and taught me how to change my mindset made all the difference.
Money is Just a Reflection of Your Current Mind Set
Money comes to those who are ready to show up and be a good steward of it. When you are willing to “try on” new ideas and change your mindset the money follows. When you say you can’t afford something, what you are actually saying is you are not willing to commit to what you are asking for.
The hard truth is, your thoughts and behaviors have created your circumstances. Your ability to change your mindset will attract the opportunities you are looking for.
